Book Launch in Albox Friday 13th February 2026 at 11am



We now return to where it all began for The Almanzora Written Word Group.
It was a cold January day in 2023, when we all trooped up to the Almanzora Group of Friends Library and Social Centre, that is situated on the Plaza San Antonio in Albox.
This was the start of a very exciting time for all the local would be writers.
After many a meeting in the lovely Plaza San Antonio library, we unfortunately out grew it, and then moved to our more permanent home at the Hostal Meson in Arboleas. Where the Anthology idea was developed and brought to fruition.
So join us on the 13th February at 11am and hear our stories, and ask your questions about writing, or even "How do I get published." 
There will be a possibility to purchase our Anthology, and get it signed by some of the Authors.
Everybody is welcome and we hope to see lots of new faces there.

Do you play chess? Do you remember when you learned to play? I do.  I was about fifteen, living with my parents and my sisters sharing the same room in the Hotel Rich. The hotel was well-known by  Chilean refugees in Buenos Aires. The accomodation and food was provided by the Hotel and the U.N paid the costs.  The Hotelier, Pipi provided food for us, but as most businessmen he cut corners to make more profit  in the food and cleanliness. When I think about it now, the food was so bad I wouldn't even feed my dog that food.  Those three long years;  that period of our lives I wouldn't call it living, I'd call it  existing, we felt we were in an Abyss.   Time went  slowly back then, no schooling for my sisters or me and my parents weren't allowed to work.
